I first visited Wanaka in 2001, became enchanted, visit at least 3 times a year and still find new places to see. Here are some of my favourite haunts which I look up each visit checking they still hold the attraction and guess what? I am never disappointed !!

Wanaka’s attraction to me is the fact that it is not Queenstown. Wanaka has retained its country town charm and yet offers the visitor lots to do. Wanaka is more family friendly yet one can experience all the adventure attractions of NZ. The Visitor’s Centre at the lakeside is the first stop for a map of Wanaka and surrounds, then a visit to the National Parks Visitor Centre for maps of walks and information on weather road closures and conditions if like me, you love to explore on foot. Once equipped with your maps you can work out the places YOU like to visit. Let me show you some of my favourites….
